THE GREAT ANNUAL MIGRATION TANZANIA SAFARI – 14 NIGHTS / 15 DAYS SPECIAL PHOTO SAFARI WITH DAVE TAYLOR GROUP DEPARTURE FEBRUARY 2009

This group will be guided by Dave Taylor, a professional wildlife photographer and distinguished author of about 70 books on wildlife (twice “Outdoor Writer of the Year”). Dave also teaches photography at Toronto’s Humber College and will teach wildlife photography on this trip on various occasions, so participants should return with the greatest pictures imaginable.

DAY 01 – FRIDAY – FEB 06/2009
Evening departure by KLM from Canada to Amsterdam.

DAY 02 – SATURDAY – FEB 07/2009
Evening arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to the Impala Hotel in Arusha for overnight. Meals: Late arrival; no meals

DAY 03 - SUNDAY – FEB 08/2009
After breakfast, proceed to the Lake Manyara National Park, which is famous for its elephants, its vast flocks of flamingoes and its large number of baboons. This Park is also famous for its treeclimbing lions, but chances to see them on a tree there are pretty slim. Overnight at the Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 04 – MONDAY – FEB 09/2009
Morning game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park. Thereafter drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation area and have lunch at the beautifully located Ngorongoro Serena Lodge right on the Crater rim. The afternoon is available for leisure at the pool side or for optional activities such as going on a guided hike (not included). Overnight at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 05 – TUESDAY – FEB 10/2009
At 08:00 hrs., depart for your full-day Crater tour with picnic lunch. The world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, the second-largest crater worldwide (264 sq. km), is teeming with wildlife, among it “The Big Five”, elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion, and leopard. You will also see hippos and large numbers of flamingoes. As an exception, the hyenas in the Ngorongoro Crater are mainly day hunters, so with a bit of luck, you may see them on a hunt. Overnight again at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 06 – WEDNESDAY – FEB 11/2009
After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti and, on the way, visit an authentic Maasai village and the Olduvai Gorge, a famous site of archaeological findings, where traces of pre-historic people dating back 3.5 million years have been discovered. The site is also called the ‘Cradle of Mankind’. Game viewing en route and on your afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park, which covers an area of 14,763 sq. km. Overnight at the Serengeti Serena Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAYS 07+08 – THURSDAY+FRIDAY – FEB 12+13/2009
Two full days of game drives in the Serengeti, observing Wildlife at its best, this being the time of the calving season of the gnus, when 250,000 of them will be born here each year. Overnights again at the Serengeti Serena Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 09 – SATURDAY – FEB 14/2009
Drive through the central Serengeti to the Ndutu area. Game viewing throughout the day, as you will not leave the Serengeti National Park. Overnight at Leopard tours Standard mobile camp. Meals: B, L, D

DAYS 10+11 – SUNDAY+MONDAY – FEB 15+16/2009
Two days with full-day game drives in the Ndutu area of the Serengeti. Overnights again at Leopard tours Standard mobile camp. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 12 – TUESDAY – FEB 17/2009
After breakfast, drive to the Tarangire National Park, where you will arrive in time for lunch. The Park covers an area of 2,600 sq. km. As it always has water, there is no shortage of animals at any time. You may encounter a large elephant herd of up to 300 animals, while wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, hartebeest, eland and oryx antelopes crowd the shrinking lagoons. Here, about 550 different species of birds have been recorded. Overnight at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 13 – WEDNESDAY – FEB 18/2009
Another day of game drives in the Tarangire National Park with lunch at the lodge. Overnight again at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 14 – THURSDAY – FEB 19/2009
After a morning game drive in the Tarangire National Park and lunch at the lodge, return to Arusha and be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport for your final departure.

DAY 15 – FRIDAY – FEB 20/2009
Return to Canada later in the day.

Prices
All prices advertised are in Canadian Dollars and are subject to change without prior notice. The airfare will be subject to availability and payable in full at the time of booking. The cancellation policy and the penalty fee of the airfare will be as per the airline’s terms and conditions.

Deviations
The itinerary prepared is subject to revisions, changes or cancellations without prior notice when the Airliners/ATOURZ representatives feel such deviations are necessary to operate the group smoothly.

Deposits
A non-refundable booking deposit of 35% of the present total tour price is required. The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. A booking made within 90 days of departure is payable in full at the time of booking. We reserve the right to cancel your booking if full payment is not received by the due date and applicable cancellation penalties will apply.

Cancellation Charges
Refunds for cancellation of a reservation will only be taken into consideration once notice is received in writing by ATOURZ. Charges for cancellation will be as follows:

Insurance and medical advice
